Progression opportunities at ALC 

At Active Learning Centres, we pride ourselves on providing students with the opportunity to progress their outdoor education through our three centres. Each centre offers a unique adventure, allowing students to explore a range of activities and develop important skills.

The first centre, Cuffley, is located in the beautiful Hertfordshire woodlands. This centre is perfect for students who are just starting their outdoor learning journey. They can participate in activities such as high ropes, zip wires, target sports, and bushcraft. These activities not only provide students with a thrill but also help them build confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Cuffley is an ideal place for students to gain a solid foundation in outdoor education.

Once students have completed their time at Cuffley, they can progress to our coastal centre, Sealyham, located in Pembrokeshire. This centre offers a range of water-based activities, including coasteering, surfing, kayaking, and canoeing. Students can test their limits and learn to navigate the coastal environment. Additionally, Sealyham has on-site facilities such as a low ropes course, which further enhances students’ physical and mental abilities. The stunning coastal scenery provides the perfect backdrop for students to immerse themselves in outdoor learning.

Finally, students can experience the ultimate outdoor adventure at our centre in Snowdonia, known as The Towers. Located in the heart of the national park, this centre offers activities such as hiking, mountain climbing, gorge scrambling, and mining. Students can challenge themselves physically and mentally as they explore the breathtaking surroundings of Snowdonia. The Towers is a place where students can push their limits and discover their true potential.

While each centre offers its own unique adventure, the true magic happens when students visit all three centres in succession. This progression allows students to build on their skills, knowledge, and experiences, ultimately creating an unmatched outdoor learning journey. By starting at Cuffley, moving on to Sealyham, and finally arriving at The Towers, students can witness their own growth and development. They will leave our centres with a sense of accomplishment, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the great outdoors.
