Meet the ALC Team – whether working behind the scenes or ‘on the ground’ with groups, we’re united in a mission to deliver quality and fun outdoor learning experiences at our three Active Learning Centres.
Pat has over 35 years experience of delivering, designing and managing outdoor learning experiences for young people. Never happier than working to develop individuals and building high performing teams, his passion for the outdoors is reflected in his mission to make every Active Learning Centre experience special. In his spare time Pat loves to explore the mountains of the UK and further afield.
I have worked in the food industry for nearly 30 years, starting in fine dining and then more recently in outdoor education. Working with ALC gives me a chance to indulge two of my great passions of cooking healthy contemporary food and spending time in a beautiful and fun outdoor environment. I’m really looking forward to the next exciting season and beyond.
A passion for the outdoors and adventure led me into the management of operations, living and working in Tanzania and Malaysia, and then returning to the UK to manage international school expeditions. I believe strongly in the positive impacts challenge and adventure can have in a young person’s development; a belief reflected in the Active Learning Centre programmes.
Rob has over 15 years’ experience in Outdoor Centre operations, programme development, school sales and liaison. On top of this, Rob has experience working as a glacier guide in the Southern Alps of New Zealand, and a host of different expedition settings. He has recently brought this experience to ALC to liaise with schools and to ensure they get the best possible experience while developing their students’ character skills and wellbeing at the three Active Learning Centres.
Sam has over 20 years working in finance, albeit in very different industries from Manufacturing to the Motor Trade. She is excited to now be putting her experience to use with a company that is on a mission to deliver such great outdoor learning products. She has a real love of the outdoors, and firmly believes in the benefits of being outside in the fresh air. If she isn’t spending her free time in the garden, then she will be walking in the forest with her Husband and two dogs, or wild camping by the side of a beautiful mountain river.
