The New Standard in Outdoor Learning 

At Active Learning Centres, we are passionate about outdoor learning and firmly believe in its value for young people. Our organisation was founded with the clear mission to create a new standard in outdoor learning, and we have recently acquired three outdoor centres to help us achieve this goal.

Led by Nigel Miller and Pat Milston, our new brand has secured multi-million pound corporate investment to create truly special outdoor centres that are fit for future generations of teachers and students. Each of our acquired centres had previously fallen into a state of dilapidation, but through our investment and expertise, we have transformed them into something truly remarkable.

Our trio of centres connect the contrasting environments of the woods, coast, and mountains and take students on a progressive learning journey to develop essential skills and character. This provides the perfect opportunity for educators to engage with students, observe their learning and enjoy being in the great outdoors.

At the heart of everything we do is the importance of outdoor learning and the value it has for young people. As former teachers and expedition leaders, our team is dedicated to helping young people develop essential skills and character, and to promoting wellbeing through outdoor learning. We are an organisation created by teachers, for teachers, and we understand what it takes to provide the very best outdoor learning experience for young people.

Our first acquisition, Cuffley, is located in Hertfordshire and boasts over 100 acres of woodland in close proximity to London. This allows for every group to have their own exclusive camp space and to connect with the wilderness. Teachers have the option of a Pod Village or camping in Bell Tents, and our carefully selected staff ensure that students can engage with the outdoors in a safe and enjoyable environment.

Our second acquisition, The Towers in Capel Curig, is in the heart of Snowdonia and provides mountain adventures that are personalised to optimise the experience for group leaders and students. With superior quality accommodation and food, it offers a modern and well-equipped experience that feels different to the typical activity centre. The comfortable Teachers Snug is the perfect spot to relax after a long day in the outdoors.

Finally, Sealyham, set to receive its first groups from Summer 2024, is the perfect base to experience high energy activities on the stunning Pembrokeshire coast. Much like our sister centres, Sealyham has been rebuilt to provide flexible accommodation with an exclusive feel.

At Active Learning Centres, we are committed to investment in this sector.
