School Trips

Module Code: content-paragraph

At Active Learning Centres, we believe that everyone can benefit from being immersed in a natural environment. We offer standalone trips or a series of progressive outdoor learning experiences that build on the pillars of essential skills, character, and wellbeing.

Essential Skills

We use the Skills Builder’s Essential skills framework to tailor our activities and your trip to focus on specific areas for development. Prior to your school trip, we liaise with teachers to identify the learning objectives and areas of focus. Throughout the course, the students are then given the opportunity to reflect following each activity to ensure we maximise engagement and growth amongst students.

Character

We believe that developing character is important to a child’s development and helps with academic success as well as stimulating a global perspective. Our skilled and experienced instructors will guide students through the activities, helping them to take ownership of each task. We let students explore their own boundaries while offering support and guidance.

Wellbeing

It has been proven that getting in the great outdoors can help to heal, soothe, and restore physical and mental wellbeing. We use each of our unique woodland, coastal, and mountainous locations to offer new physical challenges, while highlighting the benefits of their stunning natural surroundings.

Our Approach

Our active, engaging instructors stay with the group the whole time they are on centre, creating bonds and forming relationships that encourage students to get involved and challenge themselves.

We believe that outdoor learning is a valuable experience for all children and young people. It can help them to develop essential skills, character, and wellbeing. We are committed to providing high-quality outdoor learning experiences that are fun, engaging, and educational.

Here are some specific examples of how our outdoor learning experiences can benefit children and young people:

  • Essential skills: Children and young people can develop essential skills such as problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and leadership through outdoor activities such as rock climbing, canoeing, and orienteering.
  • Character: Outdoor learning can help children and young people to develop character traits such as resilience, courage, and self-confidence. It can also help them to develop a strong sense of identity and a sense of belonging to the natural world.
  • Wellbeing: Spending time in nature has been shown to have a number of benefits for mental and physical health, including reducing stress, improving mood, and boosting energy levels.

If you are looking for an outdoor learning experience for your students, please get in touch. We would be delighted to help you create a trip that is tailored to your specific needs.
