What makes outdoor learning in Wales so special? The answer lies in the beautiful scenery and the diverse terrain that this country has to offer. With its stunning coastline and majestic mountains, Wales is the perfect location for outdoor activities and educational school trips. At Active Learning Centres, we are taking full advantage of this natural playground to propel a new era of learning in the outdoors.

Wales has some of the most breathtaking scenery in the UK and in the world. From the rugged coastline of Pembrokeshire to the towering peaks of Snowdonia National Park, every corner of this country is a feast for the eyes. Imagine bringing your students to a place where they can learn in the midst of such beauty. It’s no wonder that Wales has become a popular destination for educational school trips.

Active Learning Centres is dedicated to providing high quality outdoor learning experiences for students. We have established two centres in Wales, The Towers in Snowdonia National Park and Sealyham in Pembrokeshire. These centres offer a wide range of activities that cater to different interests and abilities. Whether it’s rock climbing, canoeing, hiking, or team-building exercises, Active Learning Centres has something for everyone.

One of the advantages of outdoor learning is that it offers a hands-on approach to education. Instead of sitting in a classroom and learning from textbooks, students can immerse themselves in their surroundings and acquire knowledge through direct experience. This type of learning is not only more engaging, but can also be more effective. Studies have shown that students retain information better when they are actively involved in the learning process.

Active Learning Centres runs residential trips for students in the summer and autumn term. These trips provide an opportunity for students to live, learn, and bond with their peers in a natural and stimulating environment. By spending several days in the great outdoors, students not only develop new skills and knowledge, but also gain a sense of independence and self-confidence.

Outdoor learning is not just about physical activities. It also helps to foster a sense of appreciation and respect for nature. By spending time in the natural environment, students learn about the importance of conservation and sustainability. They develop a deeper understanding of the delicate balance that exists between humans and their surroundings. This knowledge is invaluable in today’s world, where environmental issues are becoming increasingly important.
